Slow Yoga
When I was younger, one of the things I loved most about yoga was working toward strong, complicated poses. Shapes that took months to get close to. I loved spending hours, day after day, just me and my body playing at the edge of what was possible. Back then, I could walk into class cold and move straight into sun salutations—no warm-up, no negotiation. Just go. That version of yoga was genuinely fun.
But what I want from yoga now is almost the opposite.
Menopause changed the conversation between me and my body. My joints need time before they’re ready to move well. I need to ease in, let things wake up, and find a rhythm before I ask anything of myself. I still want to explore what my body can do. Challenge it. I just need to do it differently now.
Long, slow warm-ups.
Approachable strengthening.
A pace that works with my body—so I can stay active, capable, and connected to myself for the long run.
I’m grateful yoga has room for this version of the practice, too.
If any of this feels familiar, there is space for you here.
