The Class I Couldn’t Find

I've had the wonderful opportunity to take yoga classes with different teachers around Northern CA and beyond over the past couple of weeks, and it's been a gift — so many styles, so much to learn.

Every class offers something different, and I've been paying attention to what the different approaches bring up in me.

I kept running into familiar patterns at two ends of a spectrum.

In more challenging classes, I felt the value of being invited deeper — but the pace was faster than I could follow, and I didn't always have the time I needed to fully arrive in each shape before the next one came. I'd leave feeling agitated rather than energized.

In slower classes, I found something I genuinely treasure: space. Room to feel, to breathe, to slow down. But I'd often leave wanting a little more: strength, focus, and a bit of edge.

I find myself desiring a place in between: strength without rushing past awareness, time to feel the transitions, staying in conversation with sensation rather than overriding it for the sake of sweat.

And I want to do it in a room with other people. Even without exchanging words with them, there is something truly irreplaceable about sharing that energetic space with other students and the teacher who guides it.

Does your body crave that in-between space too?

My search for it shapes the Saturday morning classes. I'm still exploring where that middle ground lives, and I'd love for you to be part of that exploration with me.
